MANILA: With a championship title three years in the making, lifestyle and gaming organization 100 Thieves cemented its place in esports history in the summer of 2021. As its luxury automotive partner, Lexus designed a bespoke NX to celebrate 100 Thieves' win. The Thieves NX contains the first generative artwork based on championship gameplay data, as shown in a new video released last Monday, June 13.
The Champion Print on the Thieves NX will be recognizable to fans of 100 Thieves because it resembles their signature geo-print, but Lexus' version gives it an entirely new spin. The Champion Print is not only a remembrance of the team's success; it is also a map of how they got there.
Lexus used a generative design technology made specifically for the project to produce a graphic representation of 100 Thieves' championship win. Lines, nodes, and curves reflect player actions and movements from the team's 11 victorious playoff matches. Each win is marked in reflective red ink and inscribed with the name of the top player.
In a statement, Lexus Marketing Vice President Vinay Shahani said, “We felt the best way to commemorate our partner’s tremendous championship win was to build a one-of-a-kind Thieves NX which was inspired by the team’s winning journey. The intuitive and tech-forward features of the Lexus NX make it the perfect canvas and co-conspirator for this type of creative venture.”
The Thieves NX is built on a 2022 NX 350 F Sport Handling AWD. It includes 100 Thieves-themed embossed headrests, floor and cargo mats, puddle lamps, door sills, and ambient illumination. Among the connected and technology upgrades are Lexus Interface with available 14-inch touchscreen display; available Intuitive Parking Assist with Automatic Braking; and Drive Connect trial with Cloud Navigation, including Google (points-of-interest) POI data, and Intelligent Assistant, including Hey Lexus and Destination Assist.
